We welcome you to visit for a day, a week, and recurring visits to co-work with colleagues, schedule group and project meetings, or think alone with a view. We provide a spectrum of collaboration spaces – shared offices, Zoom rooms, lounge seating, adjustable standing desks, meeting rooms with Zoom capabilities, kitchen, and a full 150-person auditorium. Amenities include an espresso maker, wellness and prayer room, and endless blackboards.

ACCESS POLICY: Due to volume, expect your One Day or Week Long Pass request to be processed within one business day of submission. We are unable to let non-registered visitors through security until our team confirms their information and enters it into the security system.

Visitor Building Access

​How to Request A Day Pass or Week-Pass

Anyone without a building access badge must be registered in the building’s security system before their arrival. This access only provides entrance to the elevator and not to the suite. NITMB is open to visitors 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday – Friday.

 

Request a One Day or Week-Long Pass

 

When you arrive use the 172 E Chestnut Street entrance to check in at the security desk with your federal or state ID. A day pass will be printed for your visit. Each day requires a new pass printed by security. Take the elevators to the 35th floor.

 

Please note:

1) Due to volume, expect your request to be processed within one business day.

2) We are unable to let non-registered visitors through security until our team confirms their information and enters it into the security system.

3) When you arrive use the Chestnut Street entrance to check in at the security desk with your federal or state ID. If you asked for more than one day of access, each day you need to obtain a new paper pass at the security desk.

If you unable to be admitted to the building, please call us on our main line, (312) 503-2022 , if we miss your call please leave a detailed message.

Badge Access Eligibility

There are a few groups eligible for badge access:

  1. NITMB Faculty and their research group members

  2. NITMB Fellows

  3. NITMB Visitors with appointment

  4. Participants in the Summer Undergraduate Research Program

  5. NITMB Staff

Office Keys    

Office door keys are provided to NITMB Fellows and Staff with permanent desks.

 

Lost Keys or Badges (!)

Please notify Kierra Hannon at access@nitmb.org immediately if you have lost a key, Hancock building badge, or your badge, so that she can deactivate it. Replacement cards cost $25 and must be reported.

 

Leaving NITMB

You must return your Hancock badge and keys to Kierra Hannon in office 3588. Return your Wildcard to your department. NITMB Visitors, including UChicago employees, return your wildcard to NITMB staff.

Metra Shuttle

John Hancock operates a shuttle service to LaSalle, Union, and Ogilvie stations. Must purchase a ticket in advance.

Pick up from Ogilvie station is at Madison and Wacker.

Operations: Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. – 10:32 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

GOOGLE MAP IT

 

NITMB can provide a pink discount voucher for this garage. You may pick up 1 voucher at a time at the NITMB reception desk, each good for 5 separate uses. Each usage provides up to 12 hours of parking.  Vouchers only work in the Erie/Ontario garages (Lots C & D). When checking out at a parking kiosk, enter your ticket then scan the voucher for the discounted rate to appear.

If you go over the 12-hour time limit, you will be charged the maximum daily rate. If you park at the Huron/Superior (Lot A) Parking Garage the discounted rate will not be honored. Please note that we are not able to reimburse parking in the John Hancock Building Parking.
