We welcome NSF-Simons National Institute for Theory and Mathematics in Biology members and visitors to work and collaborate at our space in the John Hancock Center, 875 N Michigan Ave, Suite 4010. You must register in advance.*

Open Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm

Closed weekends and on university holidays.

*ACCESS POLICY Any person without a badge access to Hancock must register with NITMB staff in advance of their visit. We are not able to let non-registered visitors and NITMB members without badges through security until our team confirms your information and enters it into the visitor system. To register: email your name, email address, and reason for visiting to nitmb@nitmb.org at least 24 hours in advance.

Metra Shuttle

John Hancock operates a shuttle service to LaSalle, Union, and Ogilvie stations.

Schedule Shuttle runs in 30 min intervals, but may vary due to traffic patterns and weather conditions.

Operations: Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Visitors Building Access

Email nitmb@nitmb.org to be added to the visitor system. Building security needs at least one business day notification. We will schedule you to be a visitor for the duration of your visit. When arriving at the Chestnut Street entrance, visit the security desk to have your badge printed for the day. You will need to provide either federal or state ID or passport.

Parking

The closest parking structure is Huron Superior Parking A 222 East Huron Street (10 min walk). NITMB will not reimburse John Hancock Building Parking.

Visitors (non-Northwestern, non-University of Chicago employees) we have 6-hour and 24-hour parking passes for the Huron Superior Parking A 222 East Huron Street. We will not reimburse parking in the John Hancock Building Parking.
If you are parking for the week, you may only park in Garages C and D @ 321 E. Erie St. Chicago, IL 60611. Each day you must use one of the 24-hour discount tickets to exit and re-enter the parking garage. If you do not exit and re-enter the garage, you will be required to pay full price for the duration of your parking. NITMB will only provide the 24-hour discount tickets, we will not reimburse you for full price of parking

Northwestern employees, you can pick up the pink discount coupon on the first floor of Abbott Hall, 710 N. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL 60611. Up to 12 hours of parking for $11.00 if in salary tiers 1-4 and $14.00 for salary tiers 5-7. If parked for 12 hours or more, regular garage rates will apply.
University of Chicago employees, Randy Corner has parking passes that can be used until we are able to provide Northwestern ID cards for UC employees to use the garages.

Members Building Access

There are two steps to building access:

Before your badge/ keycard is ready please email your arrival time and time to nitmb@nitmb.org to be added to the visitor system. Building security needs at least one business day notification. We will schedule you to be a visitor for that week until your keycard is ready. If you unable to be admitted to the building, please call us on our main line, (312) 503-2022 .
To obtain a badge/keycard: Please complete and return the 875 North Michigan Avenue Badge Request Form, (that can be obtained by emailing nitmb@nitmb.org) and provide a color high-resolution photo as soon as possible.
1. 875 North Michigan Avenue Badge Request Form: the building management requires a wet signature. They require your full legal name on the form. Company: NITMB (National Institute for Theory and Mathematics in Biology,) Suite: #4010. Once completed, either photograph or scan the form to an electronic copy.
2. Email to nitmb@nitmb.org the, a) Badge Form, and b) a color .jpeg of recent headshot.
3. Badges are available for pick up usually 3 business days after submission. We will let you know when your badge is ready, please do not go to the 16th floor without first checking with us that your badge is ready. You may pick it up on the 16th floor of the Hancock only between 2:00-2:30pm each day. Security on the first floor will let you through to 16th floor. They require to check either your state or federal ID, or your passport.
